PA Organic Black Masterbatch for Nylon — Aniline Black, Glass-Fiber Grade

PA organic black masterbatch is a polyamide-carrier concentrate pigmented with aniline black rather than carbon black, manufactured by Zhejiang Bastone Technology Co., Ltd. at BASTONE’s Hangzhou production facility.
The active colorant dissolves completely in nylon, so molders avoid the impact-strength loss that pigment agglomeration causes in unfilled and glass-fiber-reinforced PA.
Injection molders, extrusion compounders, and fiber producers use it at 0.5–2% addition for deep black coloring of PA and PA alloys.

Description

Carbon black concentrates color nylon by dispersing solid particles through the melt. Aniline black works differently. BASTONE's formulation pairs a polyamide resin carrier with organic pigment that goes into true solution in the nylon matrix during processing, which removes the dispersion variable that drives most black-masterbatch quality complaints in engineering plastics.

The distinction matters most where nylon carries load. Poorly dispersed pigment particles act as stress concentrators, and every agglomerate becomes a crack initiation site under impact. Glass-fiber-reinforced PA compounds are the hardest case — fiber ends already interrupt the polymer matrix, and a particulate colorant adds a second population of defects. Because the aniline black in BASTONE's masterbatch dissolves rather than disperses, molded parts keep the mechanical properties the compounder designed in.

Colorant chemistry also affects what happens at the fiber-matrix interface. General-purpose colorants can react with the silane coupling agents used to bond glass fiber to polyamide, degrading both the bond and the surface finish. BASTONE's proprietary formulation avoids the interaction, holding mechanical and electrical properties close to natural-resin values while producing a uniform surface appearance.

The melting point above 220°C keeps the masterbatch stable through PA6 and PA66 processing windows, where melt temperatures commonly run 240–290°C. Carrier compatibility with PA and related alloy materials means the concentrate melts into the base resin without forming a discrete phase.

BASTONE produces the masterbatch in-house rather than sourcing it for resale. The parent group operates four production sites and one R&D center, and formulation development, pigment loading trials, and batch testing all run internally. Particle geometry is controlled to black cylindrical granules with a smooth surface, free of impurities, with connected particles held to no more than two joined and capped at 0.2% of the batch — a specification that matters directly for gravimetric and volumetric dosing accuracy at the molding machine throat.

Glass-fiber-reinforced nylon is the application BASTONE designed the grade around. GF-PA parts in automotive under-hood assemblies, power tool housings, and structural brackets are specified on impact and tensile numbers, and a colorant that erodes those numbers forces the compounder to over-formulate. Aniline black in solution leaves the fiber-matrix bond untouched and covers the fiber-end texture that otherwise reads as surface streaking on molded parts.

Injection molding of unfilled PA6 and PA66 benefits from the same solubility. Thin-wall and complex-flow parts expose dispersion problems as color streaking near gates and weld lines, and a dissolved colorant produces uniform color regardless of shear history across the cavity. The 0.5–2% addition window lets molders tune depth of color without shifting the base resin's rheology.

Extrusion and granulation run the masterbatch through longer thermal residence than injection molding, which makes the >220°C melting point a working requirement rather than a data-sheet line. Compounders producing black GF-PA pellets for downstream molders can meter the concentrate directly into the extruder feed alongside resin and glass.

Fiber processing is the most demanding case for pigment particle size, since any agglomerate larger than the spinneret tolerance breaks the filament. Solution coloring removes the failure mode entirely, which is why organic black is standard practice in pigmented polyamide fiber rather than an upgrade option.

Applications requiring retained electrical properties — connector bodies, terminal blocks, and switchgear components in PA — also favor the organic route, since conductive carbon black raises tracking risk while aniline black does not.

Why Choose BASTONE

Batch testing and COA verification before palletized masterbatch ships
Batch testing and COA verification before palletized masterbatch ships from the Hangzhou facility

BASTONE manufactures the masterbatch at its own Hangzhou facility. Buyers deal with the producer, so specification questions reach the chemists who wrote the formulation, and custom pigment loading or carrier-grade adjustments are a production decision rather than a supplier negotiation. Batch records, appearance checks, and connected-particle control all sit inside BASTONE's quality system.

The group is R&D-oriented by structure, not by claim — four production sites and one R&D center support formulation work across organic chemicals, polymers, and specialty additives. Trial quantities for a new PA-GF compound can move from lab evaluation to production batch without transferring the work to a third-party toll producer.

Direct manufacturer pricing removes the trading-house margin that sits on most Chinese masterbatch offered to export buyers. Zhejiang Bastone Technology Co., Ltd handles export directly, covering trade terms, packaging configuration, container loading, and shipping documentation, with more than ten years of export experience behind the paperwork.
