MKS101 Slip and Anti-Block Masterbatch for PP and PE Film

MKS101 is an opening and slip masterbatch for polyethylene and polypropylene film, manufactured by Zhejiang Bastone Technology Co., Ltd. at BASTONE’s Hangzhou production facility.
Film converters add MKS101 at 0.5–2% to reduce layer adhesion and lower the coefficient of friction across blown film, cast film, multilayer co-extrusion, and BOPE lines.
The masterbatch complies with FDA and GB certifications for food-contact film applications.

Description

MKS101 combines anti-blocking and slip agents in a polyolefin carrier compatible with both PE and PP base resins. BASTONE's formulation team built the grade around two variables that decide how a slip and anti-block package performs in practice: the type of active agent selected, and the particle size distribution of the opening agent. Controlling both, alongside the compounding process itself, is what keeps crystal points low in the finished film.

Dispersion quality is where most masterbatch problems show up on a converter's line. Poorly dispersed anti-block agglomerates read as crystal points in clear film and force quality rejections on packaging that has to look clean on shelf. MKS101 disperses without a pre-compounding step — converters mix it with base resin at the specified ratio and feed the blend directly into the extruder, with minimal changes to existing molding parameters.

The functional result is two-fold. Film layers separate cleanly, so roll unwinding and slitting run without the tearing and stalling that blocked film causes. Lower coefficient of friction then lets the film move predictably across conveyors, formers, and packaging machinery, which matters more as line speeds increase. Scratch resistance on the film surface improves as a secondary benefit of the same low-COF surface.

BASTONE manufactures MKS101 in-house rather than sourcing and relabeling a third-party compound. The parent group operates 4 production sites and 1 R&D center, and the R&D center handles formulation development and batch testing for the masterbatch line directly. Buyers dealing with BASTONE deal with the people who control the formulation, which is what allows dosage guidance and troubleshooting to go beyond a datasheet reading.

Dosage discipline matters with any migratory slip system. Overdosing MKS101 pushes migratable additive content past what the film surface can carry, and the consequences are predictable: printing ink adhesion drops, heat-seal strength weakens, and slip agent migrates to places it is not wanted. Converters running printed or heat-sealed structures should qualify dosage against their own ink and sealing systems before committing to a production rate.

Applications

Blown film line running PE film with MKS101 blended into the resin feed at the extruder

Blown PE and PP film. Blown film that leaves the die and collapses on itself blocks easily, and the problem surfaces later at the unwinder. MKS101 separates the layers so rolls open cleanly, while reduced friction keeps the web tracking through nip rolls and winders at production speed.

Multilayer co-extruded packaging film. Co-extruded structures place slip and anti-block only where they belong — typically the outer skin layers — so the core keeps its barrier and seal properties intact. MKS101's dispersion behavior matters here because skin layers are thin, and an undispersed anti-block particle in a 3-micron skin is a visible defect rather than a buried one.

Cast PE and PP film. Cast lines run fast and demand consistent web handling. Low COF gives the film stable movement across chill rolls and downstream conveying, and the low crystal point count preserves the optical clarity that cast film is usually chosen for.

Biaxially oriented polyethylene film. BOPE stretching amplifies any inclusion in the melt, so particle size control in the anti-block package directly determines whether the stretched film stays clear. MKS101's controlled opening agent particle size targets exactly that constraint.

Across all four processes, FDA and GB compliance keeps MKS101 usable in food packaging film without a separate regulatory workaround — a practical requirement for converters supplying food and consumer goods brands.

Why Choose BASTONE

Film sample inspection and COA verification in the BASTONE quality control lab and warehouse
Film sample inspection and COA verification before palletized masterbatch ships from the warehouse

BASTONE manufactures MKS101 at its own Hangzhou production facility, not through a contract compounder. Formulation, raw material selection, compounding, and batch testing all sit inside the group, so a specification question about active agent type or particle size gets answered by the people who set those parameters rather than passed up a supply chain. The group runs 4 production sites and 1 R&D center from its Hangzhou Economic Development Zone headquarters.

R&D depth changes what a supplier can do when a grade does not fit. Converters running unusual film structures, tight optical requirements, or specific ink and heat-seal systems often need dosage adjustment or a modified formulation rather than a different product code. BASTONE's R&D center handles that work in-house, which is the practical difference between buying from a manufacturer and buying from a trading house holding stock.

Buying direct removes the layer of markup that sits between a compounder and an export buyer. BASTONE sells MKS101 at manufacturer pricing through its own export platform, Zhejiang Bastone Technology Co., Ltd., with more than 10 years of export documentation and logistics experience behind it. Trade terms, packaging format, and shipping arrangements adapt to what the buyer's operation and destination port require.
