CAM-3012 Transparency Enhancing Masterbatch for Polypropylene

CAM-3012 is a polypropylene clarifying masterbatch manufactured by Zhejiang Bastone Technology Co., Ltd at BASTONE’s Hangzhou production facility, designed to raise transparency and surface gloss in PP injection, sheet, and thermoformed articles.
Added at 1–3%, the masterbatch also lifts stiffness and heat deflection temperature while cutting injection molding cycle time.
Compliant with FDA and GB hygiene requirements, CAM-3012 serves medical and laboratory ware, CD cases, PP sheet and blister packaging, and household plastic goods.

Description

CAM-3012 is a nucleating and clarifying concentrate built on a polypropylene carrier, formulated by BASTONE's R&D center and produced under BASTONE's proprietary compounding process in Hangzhou. The active clarifier package promotes fine, uniform spherulite formation during PP crystallization. Crystal domains that stay smaller than the wavelength of visible light scatter far less of it, which is the physical mechanism behind the transparency and gloss gain molders see when they switch from unmodified homopolymer or random copolymer to a CAM-3012-modified compound.

The performance profile covers five areas the datasheet states directly: higher part transparency and surface gloss, higher rigidity, higher heat deflection temperature, shorter injection molding cycle time with corresponding throughput gain, and favorable cost-in-use at low addition rates. Each effect traces back to the same nucleation event. Faster and more numerous crystal nucleation raises crystallinity, and higher crystallinity is what delivers the modulus and HDT increase alongside the optical improvement.

Cycle time matters most to the economics. Because CAM-3012 accelerates solidification of the melt, molders can shorten cooling time and holding pressure time on existing tooling without changing the mold. A converter running high-cavitation thin-wall PP tooling recovers the masterbatch cost through added shots per hour, which is why the 1–3% addition rate reads as a productivity investment rather than an additive expense.

CAM-3012 carries FDA and GB hygiene certification, so formulators can specify it into food-contact and medical-grade PP compounds without a separate migration qualification path for the clarifier itself. BASTONE's Hangzhou facility runs incoming raw material verification, in-process dispersion checks, and finished-lot release testing on every production batch, and the group's R&D center supports customers who need addition-rate optimization against a specific PP resin grade.

Recommended Processing Conditions

Parameter Recommendation
Addition rate 1–3% (adjust to actual requirement)
Processing temperature Above 230 °C, to promote nucleating agent dispersion
Cooling time Reduce as appropriate — CAM-3012 accelerates part solidification
Holding pressure time Reduce as appropriate

The 230 °C floor is not optional guidance. Clarifiers of this class must fully dissolve in the melt before recrystallizing as a nucleating network during cooling. Processing below the dissolution threshold leaves undispersed agglomerates that show up as haze streaks or gel specks, so a molder seeing inconsistent clarity should check barrel profile before questioning the masterbatch lot.

Applications

Polypropylene injection molded articles form the core application. Housewares, closures, storage containers, and thin-wall packaging all compete against PET, PS, and PVC on shelf appearance, and CAM-3012 closes the optical gap while the shortened cycle time offsets the material cost. The rigidity gain also lets some molders down-gauge wall sections without losing top-load performance.

PP sheet and thermoformed (blister) products benefit from the gloss and clarity improvement across a large visible surface, where haze is far more noticeable than in a small molded part. The higher heat deflection temperature widens the thermoforming window and helps parts hold shape during demolding and stacking.

Medical and laboratory ware — specimen containers, pipette components, sample vials, and disposable labware — depends on optical clarity so technicians can read fill levels and inspect contents. FDA and GB compliance is the entry requirement for the segment, and the HDT improvement supports articles that see steam or hot-fill exposure.

CD and disc cases need scratch-resistant gloss and consistent clarity across a flat, wide molded face. The stiffness increase helps hinged cases resist warp through repeated opening.

Household plastic goods cover the broad consumer segment where a glossy, transparent finish drives purchase decisions at the shelf. Cycle time reduction carries the most weight here, since household ware runs at high volume on thin margins.

Why Choose BASTONE

Haze and transmittance testing with COA paperwork beside palletized masterbatch bags staged for export
Haze and transmittance testing with COA paperwork beside palletized masterbatch bags staged for export

BASTONE manufactures CAM-3012 in-house at its own Hangzhou Economic Development Zone production facility, not through a contract compounder. Buyers deal with the party that owns the formulation, controls the raw material specification, and holds the batch records. When a lot question arises, BASTONE's plant traces it to the production run rather than routing the inquiry through a third party.

BASTONE operates as an R&D-oriented chemical group with 4 production sites and 1 R&D center. Formulation development, dispersion testing, and application trials happen inside the group, which means BASTONE can adjust addition rate recommendations against a customer's specific PP resin grade and molding equipment instead of pointing at a generic datasheet. Pure trading houses cannot offer the same technical depth.

Direct manufacturer pricing removes the distributor markup layer that sits between most overseas buyers and Chinese masterbatch production. Exports move through Zhejiang Bastone Technology Co., Ltd, BASTONE's export platform with over a decade of shipping experience, which handles trade terms, packaging configuration, container loading, and shipping documentation as one coordinated process.
