ASM-PE5004 Antiblock and Slip Masterbatch for PE and PP Film

Antiblock and slip masterbatch for polyethylene and polypropylene film, manufactured by BASTONE at its Hangzhou production facility.
ASM-PE5004 lowers film-to-film blocking and coefficient of friction in blown, cast, multilayer co-extruded, and biaxially oriented film, with FDA and GB food-contact compliance.

Description

ASM-PE5004 is a polyolefin-carrier additive masterbatch built around a selected combination of antiblock mineral and slip amide. BASTONE produces it at its own Hangzhou plant, where the formulation team screens both additive type and particle size distribution before the compounding step, then tunes the extrusion profile so the antiblock phase disperses evenly through the carrier rather than agglomerating into visible defects.

Particle size control is the reason the product behaves the way it does on a film line. An antiblock mineral that sits outside the target size band either fails to create enough surface microroughness — leaving film layers stuck together after winding — or protrudes far enough to scatter light and raise haze. BASTONE's process holds dispersion tight enough that gel count and fisheye count stay low, which matters directly for optical grade packaging film where the converter's customer inspects clarity on the finished pouch.

The slip amide component migrates to the film surface after extrusion and lowers the coefficient of friction. Lower COF means the roll unwinds and slits without snatching, and the web moves predictably through form-fill-seal and bagging equipment instead of stalling at the collar or the sealing jaw. The combined antiblock and slip action also improves scratch resistance on the finished surface, since sheets sliding against each other abrade less.

BASTONE's R&D center supports the masterbatch line with in-house testing, and every production batch runs through internal quality control before release. As an R&D-oriented chemical group with four production sites, BASTONE controls the formulation rather than buying a finished compound and relabeling it — so grade adjustments for a specific resin, film gauge, or sealing requirement are a formulation change, not a supplier negotiation.

ASM-PE5004 meets FDA and GB certification requirements for hygiene and safety, which clears it for food packaging film applications in both export and domestic Chinese markets.

Recommended Processing Conditions

Parameter Recommendation
Addition rate 0.5–2.0% (adjust to actual requirement)
Blending method Dry blend with base resin at the target ratio, then feed directly
Process adjustment No significant change to standard film extrusion settings required
Overdose caution Excess slip agent can cause poor printing ink adhesion, weak heat seal strength, and slip agent migration/blooming. Evaluate and adjust migratory additive loading if the effects appear.

Applications

Technician dosing masterbatch pellets into the hopper of a running blown film extrusion line

Blown PE and PP film is the primary application. Freshly extruded film exits the bubble hot and winds tight, and without an antiblock package the layers fuse enough that the roll tears at unwind. ASM-PE5004 creates the surface microroughness needed to separate layers cleanly, while the slip amide keeps the web moving through the nip and the slitter without drag.

Cast PE and PP film benefits for a different reason. Chill-roll casting produces a smoother, higher-contact surface than blown film, so blocking tendency runs higher at equivalent gauge. The additive package addresses blocking without pushing haze up, which protects the optical clarity that cast film is usually specified for in the first place.

Multilayer co-extruded packaging film uses ASM-PE5004 in the skin layers, where surface behavior is decided. Loading the additive only where it works — rather than through the full structure — keeps the core layer's mechanical and barrier properties untouched and keeps additive cost down. Because the masterbatch disperses well, the thin skin layer stays free of visible gel defects.

Biaxially oriented PE film stretches the additive-loaded melt in two directions, which stresses dispersion quality hard. Poorly dispersed antiblock particles turn into stress concentration points and cause film breaks on the tenter. Controlled particle size and dispersion make ASM-PE5004 workable in oriented film lines where a coarse antiblock package would not survive.

Across all four film types, the 0.5–2.0% addition range gives converters room to tune. Heavy-gauge industrial film with aggressive winding may need the upper end; thin printed food packaging often runs low to protect ink adhesion and seal strength.

Why Choose BASTONE

BASTONE manufactures ASM-PE5004 at its own Hangzhou Economic Development Zone facility. Buyers deal with the company that owns the formulation, runs the compounding line, and holds the batch records — not a trading house that sources from an anonymous compounder and cannot answer a technical question without a phone call upstream. When a converter reports gel count or heat seal issues, BASTONE's R&D center can pull the batch, test it, and adjust.

The group structure supports the product line with four production sites and one R&D center, staffed by chemists who work across polymer additives and specialty chemicals. In-house formulation and testing means BASTONE can develop a variant for a specific resin grade, film gauge, or COF target rather than offering a fixed catalog item and asking the customer to compensate on their own line.

Direct manufacturer supply removes the distributor markup that sits on most masterbatch imported from China. Combined with the export platform operated through Zhejiang Bastone Technology Co., Ltd, buyers get factory pricing alongside export documentation handled correctly the first time — over ten years of export experience, flexible trade terms, and packaging or container loading arranged to fit the destination's requirements.
