AFM-PE2006 Anti-Fog Masterbatch for PE Film and Injection Molding

AFM-PE2006 is a polyethylene-carrier anti-fog masterbatch manufactured by BASTONE at its Hangzhou production facility, formulated with a multi-component additive system that suppresses fog droplet formation on PE film and molded part surfaces.
Recommended at 3–15% loading, the grade delivers both cold-fog and hot-fog performance and complies with FDA and GB food-contact requirements.
Primary applications include PE cling film, multilayer co-extruded packaging film, and PE cast film.

Description

AFM-PE2006 uses a polyethylene carrier resin loaded with a blended anti-fog additive package. The active components migrate from the polymer bulk to the film surface during and after processing, where they lower the surface tension between condensed water and the polymer. Rather than beading into discrete droplets that scatter light, condensate spreads into a continuous transparent layer that drains along the film surface. Packaged goods stay visible through the film instead of disappearing behind a haze of moisture.

The formulation covers both cold-fog and hot-fog conditions, which matters more than it sounds. Cold fog forms on chilled-display and refrigerated packaging, where condensation is slow and the additive must remain effective at low temperature over long storage periods. Hot fog forms on hot-fill and microwaveable packaging, where a sudden burst of steam condenses on a film that is itself warming — a condition that defeats additive packages tuned only for refrigeration. AFM-PE2006 handles both, so a converter running mixed packaging lines does not need to inventory two separate anti-fog grades.

BASTONE produces AFM-PE2006 in-house at its Hangzhou Economic Development Zone facility, and the additive package is BASTONE's proprietary formulation rather than a repackaged third-party concentrate. Control over the compounding step is what makes dispersion consistent from lot to lot. AFM-PE2006 disperses readily in PE base resin, so converters blend the pellets with virgin resin at the hopper, feed the mixture, and run their existing process without meaningful adjustment to extrusion temperatures, die gap, or chill roll settings.

Formulation and testing happen at BASTONE's own R&D center, part of a group structure that operates four production sites. Anti-fog performance depends heavily on additive selection, loading ratio, and carrier compatibility — variables that a trading house cannot adjust and a compounder without R&D support cannot troubleshoot. Buyers who need the additive balance shifted toward a specific film structure, storage temperature, or migration rate can work with BASTONE's formulators directly.

FDA and GB certification covers the food-contact end of the market, which is where nearly all anti-fog film volume goes. Converters supplying supermarket fresh-produce wrap, tray lidding, and meat overwrap need documentation on the additive package before qualifying a masterbatch, and BASTONE supplies it as the manufacturer of record.

PE cling film and fresh-keeping film. Produce wrap and household cling film face the worst fog conditions in retail — high-moisture contents, cold display cases, and a shopper who decides in two seconds whether the product underneath looks fresh. Cold-fog performance is the controlling property here, and a 3–15% loading window lets converters run at the low end for thin-gauge economy film and step up for heavier-gauge or longer shelf-life applications.

Multilayer co-extruded packaging film. Anti-fog additive is only useful in the layer that touches the headspace air, so co-ex converters concentrate it in the sealant or inner layer and leave the outer layers clean. Loading in a single layer means the effective concentration in that layer must be high enough to sustain migration over the pack's shelf life, and the 15% upper limit gives formulators headroom to do exactly that without a second masterbatch.

PE cast film. Cast film lines run fast, with rapid quench at the chill roll and tight thickness tolerance. Dispersion quality determines whether the additive shows up as gels, streaks, or optical defects at those speeds. AFM-PE2006's dispersion behavior in PE lets cast lines add anti-fog function without a screw or temperature profile change.

PE injection molded parts. Molded PE containers, lids, and display components fog on the inside surface the same way film does, and the datasheet covers injection molding alongside film. Same masterbatch, same dosing approach — useful for packaging suppliers who mold rigid components and extrude the film that seals them.

Why Choose BASTONE

Laboratory anti-fog verification and batch documentation before shipment
Laboratory anti-fog verification and batch documentation before palletised masterbatch shipment

BASTONE manufactures AFM-PE2006 rather than distributing it. Compounding runs at the group's Hangzhou facility under BASTONE's own quality control, which means lot-to-lot additive loading, carrier melt behavior, and pellet consistency are controlled by the same organization that answers a technical question about them. When a converter reports a fog performance shift between shipments, BASTONE traces it to a production batch instead of forwarding the complaint upstream.

The group operates as an R&D-oriented chemical company with four production sites and a dedicated R&D center. In-house formulation and testing capability lets BASTONE adjust the additive system for a customer's specific film structure, storage temperature range, or regulatory market — work that a pure trading house cannot perform. Buyers evaluating anti-fog masterbatch suppliers should ask who actually formulates the product; with AFM-PE2006 the answer is the same company that ships it.

Buying direct from the manufacturer removes the trading-house margin from the delivered price, and BASTONE's export platform through Zhejiang Bastone Technology Co., Ltd handles the rest — trade terms, packaging configuration, container loading, and export documentation. More than a decade of export experience across BASTONE's petrochemical and specialty lines means a masterbatch order ships with the same documentation discipline as a bulk chemical shipment. Multi-category buyers can consolidate anti-fog masterbatch with other BASTONE-supplied materials on a single order and a single set of shipping documents.
