The top 10 polypropylene manufacturers are Borealis, Braskem, ExxonMobil, INEOS, LyondellBasell, PetroChina, Reliance Industries, SABIC, Sinopec and TotalEnergies. Each of them polymerizes propylene into PP resin in its own plants or joint ventures. Compounders, sheet and film makers and distributors that other “manufacturer” lists include are left out; Bastone Petrochem, a distributor, comes after the ten as its own entry.

The ten are listed alphabetically, not ranked, because no common figure exists to rank them by.

No producer’s own figures settle which is the largest. LyondellBasell’s 10-K for 2025, filed before it sold part of its European business, calls the company the world’s second-largest PP producer without naming the first. On 2024 polyolefin capacity (PE and PP together), a CMA ranking in Borealis’s 2025 investor presentation puts Sinopec first and China National Petroleum Corporation (CNPC), PetroChina’s parent, second.

Borealis

Borealis makes PP in Europe, and since March 31, 2026 it has belonged to Borouge International, which also runs Borouge’s PP units at Ruwais in the UAE. Borealis’s PP lines include Daploy™, a high-melt-strength PP, and Bornewable PP, made from renewable sources.

Borealis publishes no PP-only total. OMV, which held Borealis as a subsidiary through 2025, puts the polyolefin capacity of Borealis and its joint ventures at 6.4 million tons at the end of 2025, split almost equally between PE and PP, in its 2025 annual report. The report does not say whether the joint ventures count in full or at Borealis’s share.

Braskem

Braskem makes PP in Brazil, the United States and Germany and sells it under its own name and grade codes, among them the INSPIRE series. Its catalog includes recycled, bio-circular and high-impact PP.

Its 20-F for 2025 gives PP capacity at its own plants in the three countries at the end of 2025, which adds up to 4,551 thousand tons a year.

ExxonMobil

ExxonMobil sells PP under two names: Exceed™ High Performance PP, in Exceed, Exceed Flow and Exceed Tough versions, and ExxonMobil™ PP, which covers homopolymer, random copolymer and impact copolymer resins.

Its 10-K for 2025 puts its PP capacity at 4.1 million tons a year at the end of 2025. Operations it owns outright or by majority count in full, and companies it owns 50% or less count at its share.

INEOS

INEOS makes PP through two businesses, INEOS Olefins & Polymers Europe and INEOS Olefins & Polymers USA, and through its 50% share of SECCO in Shanghai. The US business makes homopolymer, random copolymer and impact copolymer, and the European one sells skin-layer resins for sealable coextruded and metallized BOPP film under the ELTEX® P name.

Both figures INEOS gives are for its own plants. Its European business owns 1 million tons of PP capacity, and its US business has a nameplate capacity of 1,950 million pounds a year, about 0.88 million tons.

LyondellBasell

LyondellBasell makes PP homopolymers and copolymers, sold as Moplen and Pro-fax. Its 10-K gives its PP capacity at the end of 2025 as 1.9 million tons in North America and 2.5 million tons in Europe, plus about 1.8 million tons as its ownership share of joint ventures in Saudi Arabia, China, Poland, South Korea and Thailand.

Those figures predate May 1, 2026, when LyondellBasell sold its olefins and polyolefins assets at Berre in France, Münchsmünster in Germany, Carrington in the UK and Tarragona in Spain to AEQUITA. LyondellBasell’s investor handbook puts the wholly owned European PP capacity that went with it at 950 thousand tons.

PetroChina

PetroChina makes PP homopolymers, random copolymers and impact copolymers for raffia tape, injection molding, fiber, pipe and film, at plants run by regional companies such as Dushanzi Petrochemical.

PetroChina publishes no PP capacity or PP-only output. The PP figure in its 2025 results is external sales: 3,092 thousand tons sold outside the group in 2025.

Reliance Industries

Reliance Industries sells PP as Repol, in homopolymer, random copolymer and impact copolymer grades, alongside RELPURE™ grades for healthcare and medical packaging and EcoRepol™, its mechanically recycled PP.

The PP figure Reliance publishes is production: its annual report for FY 2025-26 shows 3.1 million tons of PP produced for sale in the year to March 2026.

SABIC

SABIC makes homopolymer, random copolymer and impact copolymer PP and PP compounds, sold as SABIC® PP grades. It publishes no PP capacity or production figure.

SABIC has agreed to sell its European petrochemicals business, which includes its European PP, to AEQUITA. In its second-quarter 2026 results SABIC said the sale was on track to close as planned; it had expected completion in the second half of 2026.

Sinopec

Sinopec, the China Petroleum & Chemical Corporation, makes PP in China but reports it only as part of its synthetic resin output. Its 2025 annual report gives 22,037 thousand tons of synthetic resin for 2025, all resins together, with domestic joint ventures counted at 100%.

TotalEnergies

Lumicene.

Bastone Petrochem

Borealis — Borouge International.
